How to submit

You can submit your work via the claims section under the submit button, or via prompts using the buttons on each prompt (or you may submit your prompt under the submit button and type the prompt's name). Every prompt will have a minimum requirement you must meet in order to be approved, but claims do not have any requirements! Be sure to attach any extra riyal you earned to your prompt submissions, as well as the allocated hp, mp, ac, or xp to your submission! Not sure what those are? See our earning HP, MP, AC, and XP guide and riyal guide.

FAQ

Can I submit artwork and writing together?
Yes! But both must reach the minimum requirements for that prompt. Some prompts require multiple submissions. If submitting both writing and drawing for those prompts, they must be able to be separated to some extent to count for multiple submissions. In short, they must stand out on their own or will be counted as one submission.

Can I submit animations?
Yes! We have a guide on how to submit animations below.

Can I submit comics?
Yes! Each panel will be counted as their own separate work.

Can I submit multiple claims at once?
Yes! Multiclaims are encouraged. Just be sure to provide a breakdown of every piece included in the claim.

Can I submit a work for 2 claims at once?
No, this is against site rules.

Can I color in monochrome?
Yes, as long as the character's markings/features are all properly represented, monochromatic artwork will be counted as colored.

Can I submit AI-generated or assisted works?
No, this is against site TOS.

Can I submit work containing stock images?
Yes! As long as the original images are credited you may use stock photos in your work. They, however, will not apply any riyal bonuses. An exception to this is full photomanips where the character is constructed and colored with stock photo pieces.

Do I need to link characters in my submission?
Yes! If you do not, your claim/prompt will be rejected.

Art Definitions

Sketches

These are works that feature no color! This includes clean lines or messy sketches.

Headshots

Works featuring just the head or head and neck! Or in the case of comics or animation, 25% of the body.

Halfbody

A work featuring half of the character's body (50%).

Fullbody

A work featuring the full body of a character (75% minimum).

Ornamental Background

A background that does not feature a scene, but may have props or decorations such as flowers and frames not associated with the character's design. It must be colored.
Hand-made patterns and abstract backgrounds also fall under this category.

Simple background

A background featuring only 1 plane, such as grass and a sky or a sky and clouds. It should form a scene for a character to be placed in.
Some artwork with one plane may qualify for other background types depending on how detailed they are, and how many objects they contain, such as an indoor scene.
For examples:

This work includes only one plane of distance, but features at least 3 different kinds of objects (bottles, books, a lamp, paintings, a magic ball, clock), making it a complex background.

Complex background

A background featuring a foreground, middleground, and background. It contains depth or at least 3 different kinds of objects. Drawing 3 different flowers will not count towards the 3 objects, but drawing flowers, rocks, and trees will.

Extravagant background

A background featuring extravagant details, depth of field, and dynamic lighting. Detail must be significant in order to count as an extravagant background. There must be at least 3 planes and 6 different kinds of objects that are not grass and sky (the painting above has: flowers, rocks, trees, vines, bushes, ferns, cliffs, and clouds).

Minimal Shading

Minimal shading covers shading with only one tone (just shadows or just highlights). This covers cell shading.
Art by dovetales

Complex Shading

In order to earn a complex shading bonus, the character must be full lit with a clear light source and cast shadows. This shading bonus requires at least 2 tones (shading and highlights or 2 depths of shading) Simple gradients and minimal shading will not count towards this bonus. This coveres cell shading.

Fully Rendered

Fluonia stood in the long golden grass plains of Elysium. Here, the days were always pleasant. The sun shone golden on the white buildings, making the grass seem to glow. This beautiful shade even painted the clouds. It was a harmonious and beautiful sight.

Her halo reflected and glimmered in the sunlight, almost blinding for one to look directly at. With half of her being dark black and red, she stood out like an anomaly. It did not matter much, if at all, although it made her much easier to find. This might explain the reason for her current situation. She sighed and looked behind her at the little follower she seemed to have somehow picked up.

It was a young manticore, stumbling after her. It was hardly bigger than the tall stalks of grass that it was trying to step through. She could only see its horns and the tip of its tail as it walked towards her. The tail wagged softly back and forth as if it was having fun.

She hadn't expected the small cub to walk so far. She figured eventually it'd tire and stop, or go back to its home. The reluctant realization came that perhaps it had no home. Although it was safe here for it, it would likely get quite boring and lonely.

The elysiphim wasn't as cold as she looked, as her heart found the idea of leaving the cub alone after it clearly seemed to take a liking to her quite upsetting. "Fine... you can come along with me if you want to so badly," she says to it once it comes into view, and the cub makes a loud purr sound as if it understood the words.

Afterward, Fluonia slows down so that the manticore cub can keep up more easily. Although its fur was a light color, its tail was dark black and red, not too dissimilar to her own.

"I suppose we match a bit, don't you think?" She asks the creature, who perks its ears and wags its tail slightly. "You're just happy to have someone to walk with, aren't you?" Fluonia asks, a softness to their words. The manticore, of course, can't reply, but she feels like she could understand the pup clearly.

The pair continues to walk a bit; the wind rustling through their fur. It feels pleasant, as always. "If you're going to stick around, I think you should have a name," Fluonia says after a bit, breaking the silence of their travel. At her sudden words, the manticore looks up, tilting its head.

Fluonia studies them for a bit, her red eyes focused on the little cub's cute face. She had never named something before. What an important thing, a name. She knew little to nothing about the creature's personality, or what it'd grow up to be like. And yet...

"How about Juliane, then?" She asks, gazing at the manticore. It simply looks up at her with a shine in its eyes. It can't use any words, but it seems happy enough. "Juliane, then," Fluonia says softly, a small smile on her face as she looks down at her companion.

The character development bonus will only apply when a character's traits are challenged, or if your character experiences a significant event.

A sentence or 2 explaining how your character's traits are being challenged, or how they are develping is required in the breakdown section. An example is below:

Although she started out uninterested and ignoring the cub, once it followed her far enough it grew on her and she realized that it would be genuinely upsetting to her to just leave it to fend for itself/be alone. She goes forward with it, but instead of making it follow her from far behind due to its size, she walks slower to walk next to it, speaking to it as if it was any other phim, and even gives it a name. It's clear she sees it as an equal/companion, and plans to keep it with her as long as it wants to be with her. This is a development from her character before this interaction, which was standoffish and uninterested

Character Arc

pending example

The character arc bonus will only apply when the submission continues the story of a character from another submission (A link to the previous submission is required!).

A sentence or 2 explaining how your character has developed, continued, etc between the two pieces is required in the breakdown section. To say "this is the second part of the story" isn't quite enough, consider something more like: "As character name leaves his birthplace of the Elysium to travel to Eden, he feels more lost than excited. He wonders if it's the right choice--and if there's still time to go back on that." It depends on what you write, but this would be a good example for a piece where the first piece was him growing up in the Elysium, and then the next piece was a piece about him growing up and leaving.

Backstory

pending example

The character development bonus will only apply when a character experiences a moment in the past such as a memory or flashback. This is not a description of their backstory, but rather them actively experiencing it via memory/flashback.

A sentence or 2 explaining how you used this bonus is required in the breakdown section.

Light Dialogue

pending example

The light dialogue bonus will apply to pieces that feature at least 5 lines of dialogue. This will also apply to pieces that are nearly entirely dialogue but under 500 words. Dialogue means a conversation between two or more!

Heavy Dialogue

pending example

The heavy dialogue bonus will only apply when a piece is mainly made up of dialogue and has a minimum word count of 500. Dialogue means a conversation between two or more!

When a work contains great effort put into style, character arcs, and literary devices like mood and symbolism. The piece is expected to have little grammar errors (if any) and in general, feel as though it was thoroughly proofread and has an organized structure.

A minimum of 500 words is required.

An abstract explaining your efforts is required in the breakdown section. It is not enough to summarize your piece, or explain the 'vibe' of it all--you should be able to specifically explain why you made the writing choices you did and the meaning. Consider it a bit more of a literary analysis of what you wrote rather than a summary. Below is an example of an abstract for the piece above.

Abstract Example

Fluonia was described to me as a character who struggles to express her emotions, sometimes coming off mean or cold (or seeming this way to others). Because of this, I wanted to put her in the Elysium. She doesn't fit in--isn't those perfect white and gold colors, and her dark red and black contrasts starkly. This was a juxtaposition I wanted to explore. Although she isn't mean, she gets misinterpreted, and although she loves gold, and the Elysium is gold, she stands out. The creature, which resembles her in color, resembles her situation as well--alone and sticking out in the golden landscapes of the Elysium. The cub and somewhat 'helpless' nature of the pet are meant to resemble who Fluonia is on the inside, something like an 'inner child'. Who she is outside of how she is interpreted or her typical demeanor.

Roleplay Bonus

Applied once per roleplay post! A minimum of 100 words is required.
